David’s journey as a poet and artist is one of resilience, healing, and profound transformation. Living with compounded CPTSD and an acquired brain injury from a severe assault, he has navigated unimaginable challenges. Since 2002, he has been on a disability pension, yet through courage and creativity, he found new ways to give voice to his story. In the early 2000s, he discovered poetry as a path to healing and expression, sharing his words across YouTube and other platforms under the name ZenOhSpiritualMan. Over time, poetry blossomed into art—semi-realism portraits, mandalas infused with Indigenous influences, and pieces inspired by art therapy techniques—all of which reflect both his inner world and the beauty he sees in others.

Through the kindness and support of people who believed in him, David’s work is now reaching wider audiences. His art reveals both depth and sensitivity: portraits that capture a person’s aura and inner soul, and creations that merge healing, spirit, and culture. Once told by college lecturers that his style holds “incredible uniqueness,” he continues to develop his craft with honesty and authenticity. With depression lifting and his communication growing stronger in recovery, David is stepping into a new chapter where his voice and vision can shine more fully.

Now, he is dedicated to giving back. By sharing his poetry, paintings, and lived experience, David hopes to inspire others who face hardship to find light in their own journeys.
